Aluminum current collector for high voltage Li-ion battery. Part II: Benefit of the En’ Safe® primed current collector technology

This paper reports the benefits of a carbon coated aluminum current collector specifically designed to promote LiNi1.5M1.5O4 (LNMO) as high potential positive electrode material. underlayer allows efficient protection surface in 1 M LiTFSI/[EC/DMC] electrolyte for more than 100 cycles (C/2 – D/2) experimental conditions mimicking electrochemical response LNMO. The design such coating appears therefore very encouraging strategy make use imide-based electrolytes possible despite their corrosive properties towards aluminum. as-developed also reduces interfacial impedance an LNMO-based by factor 5 LiPF6/[EC/DMC] paving way accelerate industrial deployment safe “5 V” Li-ion batteries.
